Swamp Loggers

Lori and Bobby Goodson, Goodson’s All Terrain Logging of Jacksonville, NC, starred along with their crew in the hit reality TV show Swamp Loggers from 2008 – 2013.

Who We Are

Goodson’s All Terrain Logging, Inc. (ATL) is a family owned and operated business established in 1986, located in Jacksonville, NC. We bring nature’s bounty in the form of tupelo, black gum, ash, and cypress out of North Carolina’s rich swamp forests. We are swamp loggers.

Our commitment to being the best has led to a specialized form of extraction called “shovel logging.”

Shovel logging is the most environmentally sensitive and effective means of harvesting trees that provide the raw materials the manufacturers we serve utilize to make the products we all use daily.

How did we get into reality TV and why did we quit?

Goodson’s All Terrain Logging was featured in Southern Loggin’ Times in 2008. Not long after that feature, the magazine’s editor received a call from Discovery Channel looking for an “extreme logger.”

The editor passed along our number. Ratings for the pilot were so high that Discovery wanted to keep the show going. It was a lot of fun and we met many, many wonderful people from all over the world. But, when we found ourselves presented with a script that didn’t reflect the true nature of our operation and our relationships with family and crew, it was time to move on.

The show resonated with so many people because they saw us struggling during those economic downtimes. Tons of people called us; they were losing homes and jobs. We couldn’t help, but we could relate.

“We are Christians and believe all things happen for a reason. It was a great experience and one we could have never orchestrated. So many people, from all over the world reached out to us.”
